Lyall Aston

For Lyall Aston the purpose of fashion photography is to sell clothes and product and or a mood behind the picture. He is inspired by the intersection of fashion, art and history.

Aston has worked in front of the camera for Diesel, Ralph Lauren, and Levi Strauss as a model and observed the very best photographers on set in studio or in far-fetched places. Aston caters to a wide range of client campaigns and his photography has appeared in a number of well know publications. As a photographer he aims to express the idea of fashion as a portrait of identity, social class, self-image and socio-political forces. For Aston, a photograph is not just a representation of what one sees in reality, it often represents something that is not seen by an ordinary observer.

His lens is used to bring attention to clothing and accessories and create a particular look either in a natural environment or one that is created in the studio. For advertising photography, his aim is all about creating the right environment to highlight the product to be advertised, in the best way possible. Aston contributes to the different aspects of the entire shoot production, be it coming up with ideas or visuals, planning and coordinating with design houses, or collaborating with advertising firms to come up with concepts required to obtain specific results.
